Responses of ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.) to increasing rare earth element (REE) concentrations in a hydroponic system

چکیده
A number of studies have focused on the effects rare earth elements (REEs) crop plants, while little attention has been paid how tolerant plant species respond to increasing mixed REE concentrations. In this study, ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.) was exposed a series concentrations prepared with equimolar mixtures 16 REEs (i.e. 0, 1.6, 8, 16, 80, 160, 400, 800 μmol/L) in order explore accumulation and fractionation characteristics responses REEs. Results show that root shoot biomasses are unaffected under lower (1.6–80 μmol/L), growth uptake nutrients especially Ca Mn largely inhibited higher (160–800 μmol/L). The P Mo roots increase solution, suggestive an involvement dealing high plant. preferential Ce heavy (HREEs) transport HREEs within lead positive anomaly HREE enrichment leaves. Our study suggests could be good candidate for phytoremediation heavily REE-contaminated soils (e.g., mine tailings southern China). results also shed light points taking into account management strategies fertilization).

Molecular Cloning, Recombinant Expression and Antifungal Activity of BnCPI, a Cystatin in Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.)
Phytocystatins play multiple roles in plant growth, development and resistance to pests and other environmental stresses. A ramie (Boehmeria nivea L.) phytocystatin gene, designated as BnCPI, was isolated from a ramie cDNA library and its full-length cDNA was obtained by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The full-length cDNA sequence (691 bp) consisted of a 303 bp open reading frame (ORF...
متن کاملTranscriptome Analysis of Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud.) in Response to Ramie Moth (Cocytodes coerulea Guenée) Infestation
The ramie moth Cocytodes coerulea Guenée (RM) is an economically important pest that seriously impairs the yield of ramie, an important natural fiber crop. The molecular mechanisms that underlie the ramie-pest interactions are unclear up to date. Therefore, a transcriptome profiling analysis would aid in understanding the ramie defense mechanisms against RM. In this study, we first constructed ...
متن کاملTranscriptome Sequencing and Profiling of Expressed Genes in Phloem and Xylem of Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud)
Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud) is a highly versatile herbaceous plant which is widely cropped in southern China. The success of this herbaceous plant relies on wide use in modern industry. Understanding the profiling of expressed genes in phloem and xylem of ramie is crucial for improving its industrial performance. Herein, we uncover the transcriptome profile in phloem and xylem in present st...
متن کاملAccumulation and subcellular distribution of cadmium in ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud.) planted on elevated soil cadmium contents
The tolerance, accumulation and subcellular distribution characteristics of cadmium (Cd) in ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud.) were investigated using a 2-year field experiment. The results indicated that ramie has a certain extent of tolerance to soil Cd (≤ 20 mg/kg) contamination with no significant decrease in shoot biomass and fibre yield relative to control conditions. Although ramie did not...

Ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud) is one of the most important natural fiber crops, and improvement of fiber yield and quality is the main goal in efforts to breed superior cultivars. However, efforts aimed at enhancing the understanding of ramie genetics and developing more effective breeding strategies have been hampered by the shortage of simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. In our previous s...
